Management Trainee Programme
This is further divided into:
1. Management trainees – Commercial (Sales and Marketing), Finance, HR, Logistics.
2. Technical trainees – Brewers and Engineers
Nigerian Breweries Plc’s Management Trainee Programme is targeted at young, bright, ambitious and talented Nigerian graduates who desire a career in a world class environment. The programme comprises recruitment, placements, mentoring, coaching, training and personal development. It also includes the 70-20-10 learning philosophy.
It is designed to accelerate integration into Nigerian Breweries Plc/Heineken; make trainees more productive and more efficient; help them build a network of colleagues for information and support; provide them a comprehensive introduction to the organisation’s strategy, as well as supplement skills learned during formal training & practical experiences.

After a highly competitive selection process, successful candidates undergo a modular training programme involving formal training and experiential attachments for 12 months. The programme is also supported with a mentoring scheme, which lasts for 18 months and starts within the first six months of the trainees’ resumption in Nigerian Breweries. From day one, trainees are encouraged to build an in-depth understanding of the practice of management in the various functions of the company. At the end of the programme, successful candidates are considered for management positions in the company.
In addition to other requirements, to qualify for the Management Traineeship program, applicants must possess the following:
(a) Bachelor’s degree in the specified discipline with minimum of Second Class Upper Division in the specified discipline.
(b) 5 Ordinary Level (O/L) credit passes including Mathematics and English Language obtained in one (1) sitting.
(c) NYSC Discharge Certificate.
(d) Ability to work with basic computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
(e) Geographical mobility within and outside Nigeria.
(f) Initiative and drive.
There are four routes through which one can gain entry into the Management Trainees Programme. These routes are:
The Graduate Management Development Scheme (GMDS):
It is targeted at young graduates who have completed their university education with a minimum of 2nd class upper degree qualification and also completed their NYSC. Candidates in this category should possess not more than 2 years work experience and also meet the pre-selection criteria as prescribed by the company from time to time.
The Young African Talent Scheme (YAT):
This scheme is meant for young Nigerian graduates with first or second degree(s) obtained from top rated overseas Universities and who meet all pre-selection criteria prescribed by the company. The YAT scheme helps to ensure that NB has a good blend of locally/overseas trained Managers at all times.

The Campus Management Initiative Scheme (CMI):
This is targeted at undergraduates of Nigerian universities whose areas of studies are relevant to Nigerian Breweries’ operations, who are in their final year in the university and have above average academic attainment of no less than a 3.5 GPA. The selected universities will typically be the top-ranked, using the National Universities Commission ranking and also have national spread i.e. six (6) geo-political zones of Nigeria.
The NYSC Route:
The NYSC route is meant for corps members currently serving the primary assignment in NB and who prove to be of exceptional conduct and performance. To qualify, the corp member would meet the minimum entry requirements for graduate entry.
Mid – Career hires
The Mid-career hires are geared to address specific resource gaps of the business on a continuous basis.Inaddition to other requirements, applicants for Mid-Career hire must possess:
(a) Bachelors degree in the specified discipline with minimum of Second Class Upper Division or Bachelors degree with Second Class Lower Division plus Master’s degree in the specified discipline.
(b) 5 Ordinary Level (O/L) credit passes including Mathematics and English Language obtained in one (1) sitting.
(c) NYSC Discharge Certificate.
(d) Relevant experience in the specified discipline.
Non-Management Commercial (Sales Executive)
The Sales Executive reports to Area Sales Manager within the region, the Sales Executive develops/agrees a rolling sales plan and executes same on an ongoing basis. Thus contributing to the overall achievement of the company’s annual sales target.
After a highly competitive selection process, successful candidates will undergo a residential modular training programme involving formal learning and on-the-job attachments for 6 months.
Applicants for the position of Sales Executives must possess:
(a) Bachelors’ degree in the specified discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division or HND minimum of Upper Credit level.
(b) 5 Ordinary Level (O/L) credit passes including English and Mathematics Obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
(c) Valid Driver’s License with excellent driving Skills.
(d) NYSC Discharge Certificate.
(e) Ability to work with basic computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
(f) Willingness to work in any part of Nigeria.
(g) Personal initiative and drive.

Non-Management Craft Traineeship
Craft Traineeship Scheme is designed to attract Technicians and Operators for deployment across our Brewery locations.
Applicants for the Craft Traineeship must possess the following:
(a) NABTEB Certificate with credit in 5 subjects inclusive of the following
(b) NABTEB : Credits in English Language, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.
(c) NABTEB: Credit in any of the following Trade Subjects:
• Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice.
• Refrigeration & Air – Conditioning Works.
• Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works.
• Electronic Works.
(d) NABTEB: Credit in any other Trade related Subject.
(e) Applicants should not be more than 28 years old as at the time of application.
